At some point in the past I have been playing with my Accord’ ECU (yes, bad idea) and ended up damaging the rewrite pin logic with my super-cheap-skates solder iron which most likely has leaking neutral or even live. Anyway, I was on hunt for another ECU..
This is dashboard from motorcycle Yamaha MT125 2017 which I have bought as a little project to repair and sell. Will not be going into detail about how I replaced the panels for very obvious reasons (it’s JUST bolt off-bolt on…) but I had few issues which were little more challenging..
Here I am, two weeks after the actual work has been done, trying to write up what I have done while being totally drained after another busy day, which, by the way, not related to the cars or bikes. But hey, tasks need to be done and we are here not to complain. So let’s talk upholstery.
So after sanding the parts down for two and a half years (that’s how long it felt like!) I got to the point where I was ready to paint them. It really was just the bonnet, but more on this later. I started looking at some cheap pop-up gazebos as I only needed it for one time use. Most of eBay and Amazon offers were around £60-90 but being cheap skates I challenged myself of finding one for under £50. Aaand good old google helped a lot – £39.99 for 3x3m with four sides delivered to my door!
As I am trying to repair the MG at minimum cost means I have to do many things myself. Not being keen on paying £600+ for new bonnet which only comes primed I decided to try repairing red bonnet (as seen in the last post) myself. This means repairing dents to minimum damage, sanding down, filling, sanding, priming, sanding, sanding and then priming and filling again.. In short, endless sandpaper usage.
Just last week we both have attended event where few of my colleagues decided to participate in a charity go kart event at Whilton Mill. This was endurance type of challenge where you have 3-4 drivers and 2hr of racing. Due my other work commitments we arrived a little late but just in time before green lights out, so I quickly pulled my amateur level camera and started shooting. Oh, the weather, it was ‘liquid sunshine’ which was not nice for the drivers and my camera lens.
One evening I was casually browsing salvage auction (probably hoping for some cheap newish Honda) but I came across this MG ZS EV. I know that it’s really a Chinese car (more on this later) and being quite new on 2020 plate with 34k miles I thought ‘eh, this will go for 5-6k and didn’t play with it in my mind at all. However, the next day, after showing it to my colleague Henry and seeing the price haven’t gone up much, I started to think about it more..
And here goes another post about event on the same track. It kind of feels weird to come to work track on Saturday as I normally use the very same road on my Monday-Friday commute. Well, at least I know which potholes to avoid.
Being keen hobby photographer I always thought video making is something I want to try too. So after January sales at Hohem, I kited myself with gimbal, set of microphones and watched few tutorials on YT!
